Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de asistir a un evento organizado por la marca Biossence y Sephora Puerto Rico “Skin Care Class” junto a un grupo de Bloggers e Influencers de Puerto Rico.
- El evento estuvo exquisito y muy bien organizado, nos hablaron en detalle de todos los productos que tiene Biossance para el cuidado de la piel y sobre todo de su ingrediente principal el “Squalane“. El “squalane” es una molécula grasa que se encuentra en la piel y es muy versátil. Mantiene la barrera de hidratación y la hidratación de la piel, y también es un antioxidante que tiene propiedades antienvejecimiento para neutralizar el daño ambiental. El cuerpo humano en realidad produce “squalane” (una parte de la humedad natural de nuestra piel), pero la cantidad producida y retenida en la piel comienza a disminuir considerablemente en los 20 años, dejando la piel áspera, seca y vulnerable. El “squalane” aparte de ser parte de la humedad natural de nuestra piel también se encuentra en una variedad de plantas y en el hígado de tiburón. No importa de dónde venga, es extremadamente inestable. Cuando el “squalane” se hidrogena, se convierte en algo más seguro para la piel. Obviamente, la captura de “squalane” de hígados de tiburón no es algo que nos interese. No solo es malo para el tiburón, sino que tiene un impacto ambiental devastador en general. Debido a preocupaciones ambientales, se han comercializado otras fuentes como aceite de oliva, arroz y caña de azúcar.

Biossance pertenece a los productos “Clean at Sephora” que significa que los productos que tengan ese logo son libres Sulfatos SLS y SLES, Parabenos, Formaldehídos, Phthalates, Mineral Oil y otros más. Ya algunos productos tienen el logo, pero en el 2019 serán muchos más productos los que se unan a ésta iniciativa.

The "squalane" apart from being part of the natural moisture of our skin is also found in a variety of plants and shark liver. No matter where it comes from, it is extremely unstable. When the "squalane" is hydrogenated, it becomes somewhat safer for the skin. Obviously, the capture of "squalane" of shark livers is not something that interests us. Not only is it bad for the shark, but it has a devastating environmental impact in general. Due to environmental concerns, other sources have been commercialized, such as olive oil, rice and sugarcane.

Biossance belongs to the products "Clean at Sephora" which means that the products that have that logo are free Sulfates SLS and SLES, Parabens, Formaldehydes, Phthalates, Mineral Oil and others. Already some products have the logo, but in 2019 there will be many more products that join this initiative.
